The right timing, the best route and signals you shouldn't miss: here's how to make every summer walk a safe adventure.
Walking is the highlight of the day for many Rottweilers. But when the sun is blazing, that calls for a little extra planning.
Pick the right moment. Early mornings and late evenings are the coolest periods. Between 11:00 and 16:00 the sun is strongest — it's better to stay inside or only take short potty breaks.
Seek shady routes. Forests and parks with plenty of trees offer natural cooling. Open fields and asphalt roads are best avoided on hot days.
Always bring water. A portable bottle with an attached bowl is indispensable. Stopping for a drink along the way prevents dehydration.
Watch your dog. Every Rottweiler is different; some tolerate heat better than others. If your dog walks slower, pants heavily or lingers to drink, it's time to head home. No walk is worth making your dog ill.
