Weekly Training Schedule
A young Rottweiler thrives on predictability and short, focused sessions. Use this weekly plan as a starting point — adjust duration to your dog’s age (5 min per month of age is a good rule of thumb).
| Day | Focus | Morning | Evening |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | Obedience | 15 min sit / down / stay in the garden | 20–30 min sniff walk on loose leash |
| Tuesday | Impulse control | 10 min ‘leave it’ and food-bowl manners | 45 min calm walk + 5 min recall practice |
| Wednesday | Socialisation | Short outing to a new environment (market edge, café terrace) | 10 min body handling + rest day for muscles |
| Thursday | Loose-leash walking | 15 min heel work with high-value treats | 30–45 min structured walk in a quiet park |
| Friday | Tricks & confidence | 10 min trick training (touch, spin, place) | 20 min game of tug with rules |
| Saturday | Longer outing | 1–1.5 h forest or beach walk (age-appropriate) | Full rest, quiet chew in the crate |
| Sunday | Rest & bonding | Slow sniff walk, no drills | Grooming, cuddle time, mental game (snuffle mat) |
Golden rules
- • Keep sessions short and end on a win.
- • Reward generously with food, play and praise.
- • Never train a tired or over-aroused dog.
- • Growing joints: no jumping or forced running until 15+ months.
