Calcium for Rottweiler Puppies: Why Balance Matters
Calcium helps build bones and teeth, supports muscle contraction and plays other essential roles—but a growing Rottweiler puppy does not benefit from "as much calcium as possible." During early growth, large-breed puppies are less able to protect themselves from excessive calcium absorption. The balance of calcium, phosphorus, energy and total food intake matters more than adding a supplement.
The simplest safe rule is: feed a complete diet whose nutritional adequacy statement includes growth of large-size dogs, measure the correct portion and do not add calcium, bone meal or mineral supplements unless your veterinarian specifically prescribes them.
