Rottweiler or Doberman: what really differs

A Rottweiler typically weighs 35–60 kg with a broad, muscular frame, a short double coat and a steady, confident temperament. Dobermans usually sit around 27–45 kg, are built for speed and endurance, have a very short single coat and often bond intensely with one person. Rottweilers tend to be more independent thinkers, while Dobermans are quicker to react and more sensitive to harsh handling — both need early socialization, consistent boundaries and a genuinely committed owner.

Either way, expect a large, strong dog that needs daily exercise, structured training and a long-term budget. Take the quiz above for a personal recommendation, then dig deeper in our Rottweiler puppy guide, training guide and cost calculator.
