First Weeks at Home

The first weeks set the tone for your entire life together. Focus on rest, routine and gentle bonding.

Prepare a safe space

Set up a quiet corner with a crate or bed, a water bowl and a few chew toys. Puppy-proof cables, remove toxic plants and keep small objects out of reach. A predictable environment lowers stress in the first days.

Sleep, sleep, and more sleep

A Rottweiler puppy needs 18–20 hours of sleep per day. Do not overstimulate — short play, quiet cuddle, and then back to the crate. Overtired puppies bite, whine and struggle to settle.

Build a routine from day one

Fixed times for meals, potty breaks, play and rest give your puppy a sense of safety. Take them out every 1–2 hours, first thing in the morning, after every nap, and after every meal.

Gentle bonding

Sit on the floor and let your puppy come to you. Reward calm behaviour, use a soft voice and avoid picking them up too much. Trust is built through consistency, not through smothering affection.
