Prevention
Ninety percent of Rottweiler health is boring, consistent prevention. The other ten percent is knowing when to call the vet quickly.

Vaccines
Core vaccines (DHPP and rabies) protect against the most serious diseases. Discuss non-core vaccines (leptospirosis, Bordetella, Lyme) with your vet based on your lifestyle and region.
Parasite prevention
Year-round protection against fleas, ticks and heartworm/lungworm depending on your climate. Ticks can transmit Lyme disease and other infections in a single bite.
Weight and exercise
A lean Rottweiler lives on average 2 years longer. Daily activity, mental work and portion control are the three levers you control every day.
Annual (and later biannual) vet visits
Full physical, weight check, and blood work from around age 5. From 7 years, twice-yearly visits catch age-related issues while they are still fixable.
Emergency signals
Bloated belly with unsuccessful retching, sudden weakness, collapse, pale gums, sudden lameness, or seizures — all reasons to call an emergency vet immediately, not to 'wait and see'.
